Kerrick Solves Dust Problems for Cement Manufacturer

HOW ONE MANUFACTURER SUCCESSFULLY PICKS UP AND RECYCLES CEMENT DUST

Kerrick was approached by a large manufacturer of cement, to implement an industrial vacuum cleaning solution for recovering spilled product.

The extraction process results in fine particles of cement escaping the factory and settling on the ground. Still perfectly suitable for making concrete, the client needed a way of retrieving the cement without collecting other foreign objects.

Cement dust is extremely difficult and inefficient to sweep up as when the dust is disturbed by a broom dust becomes airborne and difficult to contain. It is also an extremely fine powder that is notorious for its ability to clog a vacuum cleaner's motor resulting in lost suction followed by the motor burning out, so not many vacuum cleaners are capable of dealing with such a waste product.  Another issue complicating the matter was the sheer volume of dust that needed to be picked up on a regular basis.

Having consulted with the client it became apparent they needed an industrial grade fine dust vacuum cleaner with a large waste tank, strong vacuum pick up and an efficient automatic filter cleaning device. Taking these needs into consideration Kerrick provided the client with the Industrial Fine Dust Vacuum, a vacuum cleaner designed and manufactured in Italy to tackle large scale fine dust jobs.

This high filtration unit has an automatic compressed air filter cleaner, set on a timer, which allows for continuous vacuuming for long periods of time without the filter blocking (which puts the motor at risk of burning out). The mobile unit sits on large wheels enabling free movement around the factory floor. The 450 litre catchment tank is also wheel mounted allowing for quick removal and emptying with a forklift.

By recapturing the cement the plant is not only kept clean but also recycles the cement, adding to the factory production capacity. The big advantage is that because the cement is highly filtered by the vacuum cleaner it is classed as top grade cement and therefore is bagged and distributed ready for sale consequently adding to the bottom line.
