Thomas Randle’s Debut Success at BRDC F4 Circuit Test Laps

Kerrick

Kerrick Sports Sedans third place title holder, Australian Formula 4 runner up and Formula Ford Champion Thomas Randle has successfully completed his first outing in the new BRDC Formula 4 Car in the United Kingdom.

Fresh from his one off appearance at the New Zealand Grand Prix in the Toyota Racing Series where he not only finished a very strong fifth place, but also set the third fastest lap time. The 19 year old Melbournian arrived in the UK last Monday where he drove his Douglas Motorsport prepared BRDC Formula car for the first time at the historic Donington Park Circuit in Leicestershire on Thursday, followed by an outing at Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit in Towcester on Friday.
Randle got to grips with the new car very quickly, showing a lot of pace at the first test at Donington, following up with posting the fastest time at the second test at Silverstone. He commented, “I know it’s only the beginning for us, but the first two tests couldn’t have gone any better. Over 90 percent of the field were at the last test at Silverstone, so to leave knowing we were quickest is definitely a positive. I really enjoyed driving around Silverstone, and I am looking forward to heading back there soon.”

He had a trouble free run on both days, completing 52 laps at Donington followed by 60 laps at Silverstone in the new Tatuus built car. “I have really loved my first two days in the new BRDC F4 car. The car is very quick, having a 230 horsepower Cosworth engine, lots of downforce and also being very light. It’s extremely fun to drive and I’m sure I am going to love driving it for the 2016 BRDC Formula 4 Championship. I’m enjoying working with the guys at Douglas Motorsport and my engineer Marcus Koch. I feel like I can really be myself with the team, and I believe that we will be able to extract the most out of the car.”

We’ve said it when we sponsored him for the NZ Grand Prix and we’ll say it again “Thomas Randle is one to watch.” Kerrick might not be sponsoring Thomas for the BRDC Formula 4 but it’s safe to say that he’s captured our hearts and minds. There is no doubt that this kid is going places, he’s continually pushing the boundaries, setting fastest lap times and giving challengers in the course a serious run for their money. It’s guaranteed good viewing whenever he enters a competition so make sure you keep tabs on this young man’s career.

Randle’s next outing in the BRDC Formula 4 car will be at Snetterton on the 3rd of March, followed by another outing at Silverstone on the 9th, and finally at Rockingham the week after on the 17th before the season kicks off at Snetterton on the 27th of March.
